The cost of rental cars in Uganda depends on several factors since the country is a free economy whereby every operator is allowed to set their prices without any restrictions. This mustn’t worry the travellers, the prices set by the different car rental operators are affordable because of the competitive nature of the business. Different rental companies try to set prices to attract clients from their counterparts in the travel business and this works to the advantage of the travellers who in turn get what could be labelled as cheap rates for the rental cars.
Though the competition among the car rental companies drives the cost of the rental cars, some factors directly determine the actual fees of the rental vehicles. The kind of vehicle is a key factor in determining the cost of the rental car in Uganda. Rental operators have different types and models of vehicles in their fleet and different price tags are attached. Similarly, vehicles of newer model or year make are hired at a higher rate than the old model ones even if they are of the same type.

Rental companies hire out vehicles daily, for instance, a Toyota Rav4 is usually rented at 45$ per day. The cost of the rental car keeps on accumulating if the number of rental days increases.
The rental operator’s policies
The rental companies in Uganda are independent and operate in a free economy. Every rental operator has the discretion of setting their own rental cost. Therefore, different rental companies have different rental prices, for example, you will find one operator hiring a Toyota safari van at 70$ while the other at 80$. In addition, some companies charge for pick up and delivery while others don’t.
The extra services added to the rental car
Other than hiring out vehicles, there are other travel services offered to travellers, for example, camping gear, rooftop tents, GPS and baby seats. When the traveller requests any of the extra traveller services, the cost of the rental car will automatically increase.
The amount and type of the fuel
Fuel expenses are one of the factors that determine the cost of the rental car. The fuel expenses depend on the distance travelled, the engine size of the car and the type of fuel, the car consumes. Fuel expenses are a must consideration when quoting the cost of the rental services.
